Throughout the building, anticipation, and excitement of “Dear Ana,” classic indie-rock and Ambient Pop vibes with a softly mixed emo vocal expose the straight-forward, catchy songwriting of VII of WANDS.

Jesus “Jesse” Diaz is a musician/composer born in California on August 29th, 1994. Jesse discovered his musical ability in the 2008 summer, an introverted child growing up in the Monterey Peninsula, right before high school.

After collaborating with other bands as a guitar and bass player, Jesse gave birth to his “VII of WANDS” solo project in 2016. In 2018, Jesse released his first single, “Jade,” which is also featured in his debut album “Hourglass” in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He released his three-song EP “Blue Moon Diary” a few months later, following another single titled “Calmer Waters.” Along the way, he hopes to find love of his own and inspire others to find balance in their lives as well. He is currently working on a single for an ongoing EP series titled “Pocketbook” that he hopes to release this year.

Kicking with the richness of indie rock – many layers of guitar, bass, and drums for warmth and vitality that instantly surrounds and embraces the listener – “Dear Ana” weaves in a vocal with a distinct individuality, a catchy and evocative melody, and a captivating plot.

VII of WANDS has fashioned a timeless masterpiece with this release, which is gritty by design yet melodically addictive and perfectly accessible thanks to his uniquely recognized, authentic vocal lead. The song’s hook is both familiar and intriguing.

On first listen, the genuine, catchy indie rock, Ambient Pop vibe, and captivating melodies have a lot to offer. Looking a bit deeper, though, reveals a plethora of stories, insights, and emotions at work, all of which link all the more deeply with each revisit.

Excellent musicianship, humility, and purity are welcome elements in an often flashy and frequently engaging current scene.
