SUMO y Los Hermanos del Alma’s music is about as authentic as Latin Fusion Rock gets. The track You Are My Light” showcases an artist with an intense level of passion for music and lyricism, as well as one with fresh bars, a genuine sense of storytelling, and a characterful leading voice.

SUMO y Los Hermanos del Alma’s flow is rhythmic and emotional but perfectly in keeping with the upbeat and motivational energy of the music supporting it. The storytelling is important, this is something truly unique to the artist, so you get a release that is both packed with individuality, and professionally, thoughtfully crafted and finished.

The track’s hook is on point, the energy is kept at a fairly hyped level though with an underlying, easy going musical vibe. Lyrically there’s a touch of darkness on occasion, largely due to the unquestionable truth the artist presents his audience with. Real life is reflected within the verses, and the return to the hook keeps that uplifting element ever present and powerful. The hook and in fact the overall ambiance of the track pays something of a tribute to classic Latin Fusion Rock from way back when. There’s a subtle touch of organic musicianship to the beat, not overusing electronic samples or aiming too carelessly with the creative mixing. The track is humble, but it hits with strength, and the artist’s leading voice and flow throughout is the sort that will bring fans of real Latin Fusion Rock back again and again.

The song surrounds you with appropriately heavy musicality and emotion. The melody for this moment, this hook, as it were, is notably less intricate than the verses, and this makes for an unusual structuring choice. The lines featured within the verses have a certain poetic nature to them, the simplicity of the opening lines, followed by the fuller, more detailed and expressive sentences. All of this leads ferociously into the hook, at which point there’s a distinct level of further space surrounding the lines, and there’s a slight drop in intensity – the emotion comes through with power; this melancholy, deeply reflective, questioning moment.

“SUMO y Los Hermanos del Alma” is an incredibly unique and appealing electronic music track. There’s something very inspiring about the instrumental story the music portrays, and all the while, as the details explore the scenes and the set, the backdrop keeps the ambiance at a blissful and beautiful level. This is escapism at its greatest, the effect is instantaneous. The only downside is that it ends. Well worth a fair few repeat listens.
