N4VV’ latest release “Comfort” is another hip hop-driven song arriving just in time for the end of the summer. The music is actually fairly spacious considering the rhythm and build-up, not to mention the EDM-inspired melody and build-up to the hook. This leaves the potential for remixes or further collaborations wide open. The simplicity gives listeners, particularly other producers or DJs, room to interpret the track and choose how else to enhance it. N4VV is a Punjabi artist and he nicely delivers this brilliant track using unique Hindi and it is awesome.
The title track is a pretty effective representation of the energy and drive that makes up the extent of the track. The music has the brightness and character of a powerful soundscape in itself, then on top of this, you get these varied, collective vocal performances, each and every one of which is glowing with unwavering passion and soul, and integrity. The music is uplifting, as are the performances – even without language you can feel the urgency and inspiration in the sound. Then when you do pay attention to those words, of which there are so many, there appears an abundance of ideas to consider and reflect upon.
N4VV’ lyrics always keep things pretty simple. In this case, the song comes through as potentially explicit in terms of its adult content, the accompanying soundscape however touches on more of a spiritual connection than anything else. Whether you take the concept as consistently metaphorical or not is up to you, as with all music – every listener receives it in their own way. In either case, the music fits the profile in a light-hearted and upbeat manner.
Structurally the track builds up from the opening simplicity into something much more upbeat and active. The sounds and samples that come into play create a much fuller soundscape, and so as the energy of the whole thing increases, so does the detail within the instrumentation and the culmination of vocal parts as the end of the track approaches.
The structure of the song itself means that at the same time as this hypnotic, comforting ambiance is continuously surrounding you, things are kept ever-changing elsewhere. You never tire of the unfolding story, there’s always something new and interesting to look out for, and that switch from the melancholy of the verse to the slightly left of the joyful chorus makes for something memorable and fresh. There’s plenty of nostalgia in the sound, but there’s also an abundance of individuality, of new ideas from an unpredictable perspective.
