A true indie rock song that is nostalgic and authentic, Never by Sunset Closeup quench the thirst of 90’s song lovers perfectly.
Sunset Closeup is an Alternative rock band consisting of two artists; producer/guitarist Andrew Amsden (Hello Clarice and GTFO) and Melbourne singer Mark Pearl (Texture Like Sun). They formed this band during the 2020 Covid Pandemic after Andrew left Los Angles to settle in Portland, Oregon. They have released their debut album “Sunset Closeup” with three songs, Never being the first one.
“Never” begins with low-end acoustics and progresses with muscular drums and rich, deep bass. The low noise guitar parts highlight the overall song giving some subtle rhythmic sophistication. The song’s vocals are from Mark Pearl, which reminds you of 80’s music stars such as Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and U2’s Bono. He starts singing in a low register and slowly progresses his distinctive vocals. The song contains a euphoric chorus hook, “I’ll reach out for more”, which is memorable. “Never” is truly a masterpiece of the alternative rock genre.
If you listen to their entire album, you’ll realize that this duo is game changers as the quality of all three songs are top-notch. We are sure that the listeners will fall in love with this Aussie-American duo for a long time.
