James Cohen Jr., aka Jay Lyriq, is a multi-platinum and multi-gold award-winning singer-songwriter and former Nappy Boy performer who is a member of the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association). Jay Lyriq was born in Tallahassee, Florida. Jay Lyriq’s passion for music evolved as a child as he listened to performers such as Sam Cook. Jay Lyriq continued to hone his writing and vocal skills. Jay Lyriq met Faheem Najm, a.k.a. T-Pain, and the rest is history.
Jay Lyriq’s voice and writing abilities have landed him places on T-Pain albums, including Epiphany, Tallahassee Love, and 69, as well as Three Ringz Tipsy and Reality Show, and he co-wrote T-billboard Pain’s hit “UP Down.” Jay Lyriq co-wrote and performed “In da club” with female R&B trio Sophia Fresh + More on the soundtrack to the film STEP UP 2.
